Control Valve Class

Control Valve Fundamentals Class

Saturday, January 26, 2008 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Cal Maritime Academy, Vallejo

Sorry, this class did not get enough sign-ups to hold the class.  Refunds will be made to anyone who paid.

Introduction: We are going to try to keep the math equations to a minimum. Many of us know and understand the use of the Bernoulli equation. That equation is the primary basis for all valve-sizing equations, but our goal is not to make you a control valve sizing expert. Rather we want you understand the concepts so that you can avoid the design mistakes that occur during the conceptual design phase of a new project or the redesign of existing facilities.

This class will cover the following topics: The Basics - The What, Why, and How of a Control Valve

The Types of Valves - Design differences and the impact on valve functions.

The Money - The bottom line in all engineering work, determining life cycle cost and for whom.

Manual Valves, Control Valves, and Crappy Automated Valves - Know the difference and why.

Valve Selection - The impact of process conditions, normal, startup, shut down, and transients on valve selection.

Valve Sizing - Picking the right valve for air, water, and everything else; how good is the process information?

Call The Control Valve Expert - Learn when you should get expert help during the design phase of a project and avoid expensive fixes later.

ISA Standards - Using the ISA Control Valve Standards as learning tools as well as "Specification" tools.
